Raiders Netball Club is a family orientated netball club that has been serving the suburbs of Thorneside, Birkdale, Wellington Point, Wakerley, Manly West, Manly, Lota and surrounds, for more than 25 years. We welcome players of all ages from 5 year olds, who begin with the Net Set GO program, right up to under 19 year olds. We also provide development pathways for players who are interested in learning the skills of umpiring or coaching. Our netball club caters for all junior netball from beginners to representative players, and everyone in between.

Net Set GO
Suncorp’s Net Set GO program is offered by Raiders Netball Club, Thorneside. It’s a great introductory way to develop children’s netball skills and begin playing competition netball with modified rules.

There may be many reasons why you have missed the sign on dates for junior netball with Raiders Netball Club. If this is the case, please contact the Registrar to see if there are any teams with vacancies that may suit your child.

Our kids netball teams will provide your child with the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends, learn about teamwork, commitment and perseverance and enjoy getting outdoors for some physical exercise and movement. Frequently Asked Questions
1. When does the netball season start and finish?
Depending on the age of your child they may or may not have pre-season grading games. These are usually held in Febuary/March and fixtures begin in March/April. The fixtures end in August/September and then the finals are usually finished by September/October. Training and fixtures break for the school holidays. Exact dates do vary each year – check our 2022 Calendar for the latest information.
2. When and where do you play and train?
During school terms, mid-week training is at the Raiders Netball Club on Mooroondu Rd, Thorneside. The particular days for training are determined once the teams are finalised and the availablity of the coach and players are known. Junior netball players are welcome to use the training courts at Thorneside, with their own equipment, whenever they like.
The Saturday fixtures are held at Pinklands Sporting Grounds, Thornlands. The game times depend on the age group of the players.
3. What are the fees for Raiders Netball Club?
The registration fee for the 2022 netball season is $325 for the first child. We offer a sibling discounted fee of $295 for the second child and $285 for subsequent children. These fees include registration with the RNA and Netball QLD. Uniforms can be purchased separately from Raiders Netball Club.
Our season fees include Netball Queensland & Redlands Netball Association Fees of $220 per player with the remainder being retained by Raiders. The Raiders element covers, use of courts, clubhouse and other facilities at Mooroondu, awards, trophies, photos, club events, and the costs associated with running the club. The club actively pursues sponsorship opportunities and grants to subsidise or cover the purchase of equipment, coaching courses/aids, umpiring training, court maintenance and training shirts etc.
We are a registered club with FairPlay and you can apply for vouchers of up to $150 to assist with the registration fee, if required.
4. When is sign on?
- Online – 10/1/2022 – 4/2/2022
- Raiders Netball Club, Thorneside – Sunday 30/1/2022, 10am – 2pm. New families are welcome to come and meet the committee and find out more about the club.
5. What if my child is serious about playing netball beyond the junior netball level?
Our association with the Redlands Netball Association (RNA) provides elite junior netball players with the opportunites to play rep netball. For more information on the pathways for elite netball players visit Netball QLD or the RNA or speak to your coach.
6. Do Raiders offer social netball for adults?
The RNA offers social netball, Walking Netball and a Twilight competition. Visit their website for more information.
