Frequently Asked Questions

1. When does the netball season start and finish?

Depending on the age of your child they may or may not have pre-season grading games.  These are usually held in Febuary/March and fixtures begin in March/April.  The fixtures end in August/September and then the finals are usually finished by September/October.  Training and fixtures break for the school holidays.  Exact dates do vary each year – check our Calendar for the latest information.

2. When and where do you play and train?

During school terms, mid-week training is at the Raiders Netball Club on Mooroondu Rd, Thorneside.  The particular days for training are determined once the teams are finalised and the availablity of the coach and players are known.  Junior netball players are welcome to use the training courts at Thorneside, with their own equipment, whenever they like.

The Saturday fixtures are held at Pinklands Sporting Grounds, Thornlands.  The game times depend on the age group of the players.

 

3. What are the fees for Raiders Netball Club?

We aim to keep our registration fees affordable for all families.   We offer a sibling discounted fee for the second child and for subsequent children.  For fee information please click here. Uniforms can be purchased separately from Raiders Netball Club.

Our season fees include Netball Queensland & Redlands Netball Association Fees per player with the remainder being retained by Raiders.  The Raiders element covers use of the courts, clubhouse and other facilities at Mooroondu, awards, trophies, photos, club events, and the costs associated with running the club.   The club actively pursues sponsorship opportunities and grants to subsidise or cover the purchase of equipment, coaching courses/aids, umpiring training, court maintenance and training shirts etc.

We are a registered club with FairPlay and you can apply for vouchers of up to $150 to assist with the registration fee, if required.

4. When is sign on?
  • Online – early January
  • Raiders Netball Club, Thorneside  usually the last Sunday in January. New families are welcome to come and meet the committee and find out more about the club. 
5. What if my child is serious about playing netball beyond the junior netball level?

Our association with the Redlands Netball Association (RNA) provides elite junior netball players with the opportunites to play rep netball.  For more information on the pathways for elite netball players visit Netball QLD or the RNA or speak to your coach.

6. Do Raiders offer social netball for adults?

The RNA offers social netball, Walking Netball and a Twilight competition. Visit their website for more information.
